Exclamation Cruze will feature 10 airbags, other safety features

LORDSTOWN, Ohio- Tests were conducted Friday on the safety features for the newest vehicle to come out of General Motors Lordstown plant.

The Chevrolet Cruze will feature 10 airbags, which are designed to protect passengers from all angles, including at the knees.

Other safety features on the vehicle will include rollover sensing, OnStar with automatic crash response and a collapsible pedal system to reduce the risk of leg injuries in the event of a crash.

Chuck Russell, vehicle line director, said in a news release that the car will be one of the safest GM offers.

"To benefit our customers, we went way beyond requirements to exceed government safety mandates," Russell said in the release.

The Cruze is scheduled to hit the market in the third quarter of 2010.
